My internship is at School Without Walls at Francis-Stevens Elementary School. I am the teacher’s assistant for Mr. Watson’s kindergarten class. I like Mr. Watson as a supervisor because he is different than the other teachers at the Francis-Stevens Campus. He treats each child as if they were his own. In his class there are two girls with serious disabilities, one blind girl and one who has a speech delay. I demonstrate teamwork by helping Mr. Watson with anything he needs and working with the students in groups. Mr. Watson gave me materials to begin teaching the blind student “Braille,” which is an independent writing system. I enjoy going to SWWFS to see all the smiles on the children’s faces when they see me walk in the door; sometimes they argue to sit next to me in class or for me to help them with something! I love my internship.
