Mission Statement

The mission of The School Without Walls at Francis Stevens athletic department is to create a safe and enjoyable environment where we

• Foster the development of our players, coaches, and supporters,

• Honor every aspect of the sport, and

• Demonstrate the characteristics of a productive and global citizen.

Vision

Our vision is to create a positive athletic experience that inspires players to be the best versions of themselves. We want our athletes to return to every practice and competition with excitement. We are a developmental organization that aims to motivate our players to grow. Our coaches and families will be supportive and encouraging. Our athletes will begin to own their development and lead with confidence.

Principles of Play

• Honor the Game - Athletes love the game they play. They honor the rules and play space, respect the coaches and officials, and value teammates as well as opponents.
   

• Own Your Development - Players take ownership of their personal development by giving full effort during practices, competitions, and individual workouts. They are active learners who bounce back from mistakes and listen to coach feedback. Athletes engage in mental, physical, and emotional self-care.
   

• Elevate the Team - Athletes inspire their teammates through their words and actions. They encourage and support their teammates. Players prioritize team goals and success. They seek to appropriately resolve conflicts.

 

SWWFS athletics offers sports through the District of Columbia Interscholastic Athletic Association (DCIAA). If we do not have your sport of choice, families are encouraged to join other established and refined athletic organizations within the district.
